Lesson 1. Great Britain
Objectives. Practical: to develop creative skills;
to provide students with an opportunity to practice speaking skills;
to cultivate pupils' skills in skimming reading.
Developing: to elicit pupils' ideas and opinions on the topic of the
lesson.
Social: to develop pupils' interest in cultural of other countries.
Equipment: books by Alia Nesvit 5 th form, handouts, maps, files with songs, poems.
Procedure.
I. Introduction
1. Greeting
T. Good morning , dear pupils.
Ps. Good morning to you,
Good morning to you,
We are all in our places
With sunshining faces,
Good morning to you,
We are glad to see you.
T. I am glad to see you too.
Ps. We have got spirit,
Yes we do. We have got spirit,
And what about you?
2. Warm-up.
T. I've got spirit too. So lets start our lesson. Tell please What season is it now?
Who can speak about it?
PI. Autumn.
T. What season comes after autumn?
P2. Winter.
T. Is she right?
P3. Spring
It is a very nice season too. But I like spring best of all/ it has three nice months: March, April, May. The sun shines brightly. The birds come back from the South. The flowers begin to blossom. And of course we have great holidays: the 8th of March, Easter, Victory Day .
P4. Summer
You are right. To my mind summer is great season too. It is hot. We can swim, lay in
the sun, gather berries, mushrooms.
Summer has three months too. They are June, July, August. I like summer because I have summer holidays. It's cool to have these holidays.
T. Dear children! We are having a conference today. The Queen of Great Britain has invited many guests for today's conference. And you'll have a good opportunity to communicate with them and to develop your language skills. The first word is given to the Queen.

They come from Scotland, England, Northern Ireland, Canada, The USA, Australia. We'll have much opportunity to know as much as possible about the English - speaking countries and more about GB.
